Lower and Upper Canada is a journey through the urban centres and rural splendor of Ontario and Quebec, celebrating Canada’s English and French heritage. Travel from cosmopolitan Toronto and the natural wonder of Niagara Falls to the national capital of Ottawa. Then, cross into Quebec and explore Montreal, the second-largest French-speaking city in the world. The route continues along the St. Lawrence River to the walled centre of Quebec City before turning inland to the Saguenay region. Traverse the rolling hills and dense forests of the Mauricie / Bois-Francs region en route to Trois Rivières and Montreal.

ITINERARY
Day 1 - ARRIVAL IN TORONTO

Arrive at Toronto's Pearson International Airport and transfer independently to your downtown hotel.Pick up your Jonview Canada Roadbook at the front desk as you check in. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore the many attractions of this vibrant and culturally diverse city. Overnight in Toronto.

Day 2 - TORONTO / NIAGARA FALLS EXCURSION ( 260 KM )

The day is free to discover Toronto at your own pace. Visit impressive city landmarks such as the CN Tower or SkyDome, explore the harbourfront district on foot or by harbour cruise, take in a world-class theatre production, or perhaps find a shopping bargain or two at the multi-levelled Eaton Centre. For a real thrill, plan to visit the famed Niagara Falls, about an hour and a half drive south of Toronto. Your route will take you through Ontario's wine-growing region and should definitely include a stop in the picturesque town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Plenty of photo opportunities await you at the falls and no shortage of related attractions in this honeymoon capital of the world. Overnight in Toronto.

Day 3 - TORONTO TO OTTAWA ( 400 KM )

Depart Toronto, driving east along Lake Ontario as you make your way to Ottawa, the nation's capital city. Enter the Thousand Islands region with its many lovely sightseeing and recreational opportunities and explore the magnificent scenery of the 1000 Islands on a relaxing one hour cruise before arriving in the capital city, Ottawa. This wonderfully lush island landscape is dotted with luxurious cottages and vast estates. Referred to by the Iroquois Nations as the "Garden of the Great Spirit", the tranquillity of the area belies a history of adventurers, wars and rebellions. The cruise will take you past Boldt Castle, Zavikon Island and Millionaire's Row. Overnight in Ottawa.

Day 4 - OTTAWA TO MONTREAL ( 200 KM )

Today there is more time to enjoy Ottawa's attractions. Take a stroll along the Rideau Canal which in winter becomes the world's longest skating rink. Pass by the residences of the Prime Minister and Governor General and visit the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Museum and Stables. Drive to Montreal, the second largest French-speaking city in the world. Overnight in Montreal.

Day 5 - MONTREAL TO QUEBEC CITY ( 250 KM )

Get ready to explore this fascinating city of duelling cultures. Savour the city's French-Canadian flare as you walk through historic Old Montreal with its original cobblestone streets; marvel at the architecture of Notre Dame Basilica; or take some panoramic photographs of the city from the observation point at the top of Mont Royal. Thereafter, drive north along the St. Lawrence River to Quebec City. Overnight in Quebec City.

Day 6 - QUEBEC CITY

Spend a full-day in Canada's oldest city. Founded in 1608, Quebec City is the only walled city in North America and a designated United Nations World Heritage Site. Bask in the joie de vivre atmosphere as you visit the Plains of Abraham, the Fortifications, the National Assembly, Place Royale, the Basilica and many more points of attraction. Also, just outside of Quebec City you'll find Montmorency Falls standing 30 metres taller than Niagara Falls. Overnight in Quebec-City.

Day 7 - QUEBEC CITY TO CHICOUTIMI (VIA TADOUSSAC) ( 345 KM )

Drive along the Beaupré Coast on your way to Chicoutimi via Tadoussac. Set at the confluence of the majestic Saguenay and St. Lawrence Rivers, the area is a popular one for whalewatching excursions. The Charlevoix Mountains provide a beautiful backdrop. Overnight in Saguenay.

Day 8 - CHICOUTIMI TO LAC ST. JEAN REGION ( 140 KM )

Today drive through a landscape of forests, lakes and rivers to the Lac St. Jean region. Fed by four rivers, the waters of the 1,002 square kilometres large lake in turn pour into the mighty Saguenay River. Rich in geological contrasts, Lac Saint-Jean is the most impressive part of the Saguenay Region. The north shore, on the edge of the Laurentian Hills, is characterised by granite outcrops and glacial debris as high as three-storey buildings. The south shore is gently rolling and fertile, supporting dairy farming. Nature and recreation enthusiasts can enjoy hiking, boating, fishing, climbing and horseback riding around the circular lake. Overnight in Lac St. Jean region.

Day 9 - LAC ST. JEAN TO TROIS-RIVIÈRES ( 300 KM )

Navigate the rolling hills and dense forests of the Mauricie / Bois Francs region en route to Trois Rivières. Founded in 1634, Trois Rivières is the second-oldest French city in the province and today ranks as one of the world's largest paper manufacturers due to its vast wood supplies. You may want to take a short drive to the community of Cap-de-la-Madeleine and home to Our Lady of the Cape, Canada's national shrine to the Virgin Mary. The stone chapel shrine was built in 1714 and has been considered 'miraculous' since 1888. Overnight in Trois Rivières.

Day 10 - END OF TOUR / MONTREAL ( 145 KM )

Return to Montreal's Trudeau International Airport to check in for your return flight.
