Travel to Cape Breton Island, drive on the scenic Cabot Trail, and embark on exciting ferry rides between the two provinces. Observe whales and other wildlife on your tour through the Maritimes, and take beautiful memories home!

ITINERARY
Day 1 - ARRIVE IN HALIFAX

Arrive at Halifax International Airport and transfer independently to your centrally located hotel. Pickup your Jonview Canada Roadbook at the front desk as you check-in. The remainder of the day is at leisure for exploring this bustling oceanside city. Overnight in Halifax.

Day 2 - HALIFAX

Halifax is located on one of the world's largest natural harbours and bears all the hallmarks of both a modern and historic city. You can discover its proud maritime heritage in the many museums and along the waterfront area, which includes the restored Historic Properties. Visit the Citadel that has guarded the city since the 18thcentury, the Public Gardens or sail on a harbour cruise aboard the Bluenose II. Overnight in Halifax.

Day 3 - HALIFAX TO BADDECK ( 365 KM )

Take the Bras d'or Drive eastbound and cross into Cape Breton Island via the Strait of Canso. Discover central Cape Breton with its renown Bras d'Or Lake, considered to be one of the world's best sailing and boating venues. Drive through tranquil scenery and small communities that continue to celebrate Nova Scotia's Scottish, Native and Acadian heritage. Make your way to the delightful resort community of Baddeck where a fascinating museum is dedicated to the life and works of Alexander Graham Bell, the inventor of the telephone. Overnight in Baddeck.

Day 4 - BADDECK

Take a scenic drive on the Cabot Trail into the highlands of northern Cape Breton. The trail runs past lochs and glens settled by Scottish Highlanders and along scenic coastlines settled by Acadians. Meander through the rugged Cape Breton Highlands National Park enjoying stunning views of sea-swept headlands, steep cliffs and tranquil beaches. Hiking trails lead into the interior of the park where stunning vistas appear at each turn. Return to Baddeck through the lush Margaree Valley. Overnight in Baddeck.

Day 5 - BADDECK TO CORNER BROOK ( 460 KM )

A scenic ferry crossing between North Sydney in Nova Scotia and Channel-Port-aux-Basques in Newfoundland starts your day en route to Corner Brook. As the ferry sails across the Cabot Strait, keep a close watch for whales and dolphins. White puffins and birds of prey living on the spectacular cliffs can also be seen. Coastal barrens and forested mountains dominate the first impressions of Newfoundland's landscape. The best way to experience the rugged beauty of the wave-pounded coast is by hiking some of the excellent nature trails en route to Corner Brook. Overnight in Corner Brook.

Day 6 - CORNER BROOK TO TWILLINGATE ( 300 KM )

Today, drive east through a landscape covered with woodlands, and visit some of the historic sites of the mysterious Beothuks, who once inhabited the island. Explore Gros Morne National Park, declared a United Nations World Heritage Site in 1988 to preserve diverse plants and wildlife of this geologically fascinating stretch of land. Then head for the Kittiwake Coast, where dense forests give way to fabulous seascapes of inlets, coves and islands. Explore the "Road to the Isles", and excellent vantage point for observing towering icebergs, en route to Twillingate. Overnight in Twillingate.

Day 7 - TWILLINGATE TO GANDER ( 80 KM )

Stroll along the Streets of Twillingate exploring one of Newfoundland's most picturesque fishing villages. Then take a scenic drive to Gander and take in the breathtaking views of the scenery and charming fishing villages. Gander, steeped in aviation history, is located in the heart of the province's finest fishing area. Overnight in Gander.

Day 8 - GANDER TO CLARENVILLE ( 150 KM )

En route to Clarenville, you will experience the tranquility and wildlife of Terra Nova National Park. You can explore the pristine wilderness along the numerous hiking trails or navigate the coastline by sea kayak. From the hills and deserted beaches, you can observe minke, pilot and humpback whales close to shore, while dolphins and orcas can be seen cruising Bonavista Bay. To see moose, black bears and foxes, simply hike into the marshes and forests of the interior. Overnight in Clarenville.

Day 9 - CLARENVILLE TO ST. JOHN'S ( 190 KM )

A scenic drive along the Trans-Canada Highway brings you to St. John's. Travel along Conception Bay where the air of piracy and tall ships still lingers. The frequent mist lends a mystical aura to these parks and villages. Continue to St. John's, Newfoundland's provincial capital, where colourful streets compete with the natural beauty of the surrounding hills. Overnight in St. John's.

Day 10 - ST. JOHN'S

Today you can explore the city of St. John's and the surrounding area. The city is one of the oldest in North America, and it emphasizes innovation and progress while cherishing continuity. Wander through the steep narrow streets of the old city and climb the rock of Signal Hill. See its many historic buildings and sites, and visit its annual festivals and events. Overnight in St. John's.

Day 11 - ST. JOHN'S TO SYDNEY ( 130 KM )

Bid farewell to Newfoundland and cross the Avalon Peninsula to catch the early morning ferry. Enjoy an all-day cruise on the Atlantic Ocean keeping a keen eye out for marine wildlife. Disembark in North Sydney during the early evening and continue to the city of Sydney. Overnight in Sydney.

Day 12 - SYDNEY TO BRAS D'OR LAKE ( 60 KM )

Today you will set out towards Bras D'or Lake. Travel northwest towards East Bay and enjoy a great view of the lake along the way to Cape Breton Island, the body of land surrounding Bras d'or Lake. Overnight in Bras d'or Lake.

Day 13 - BRAS D'OR LAKE TO ANTIGONISH ( 137 KM )

Leave Bras d'or Lake behind and travel down North Shore Drive towards Antigonish today. From soaring bald eagles to majestic waterfalls, you'll find a hikers paradise and the breathtaking Northcumberland Strait.Overnight in Antigonish.

Day 14 - ANTIGONISH TO HALIFAX. END OF TOUR ( 213 KM )

Enjoy a scenic drive back to Halifax today. Return to Halifax International Airport in time to check-in for your return flight.
