This new escorted itinerary is highlighting the striking landscapes and historical attractions of Newfoundland and Labrador. The tour circuit originates and ends in Halifax, Nova Scotia’s attractive capital city and central port, serving as a popular gateway to many Maritime explorations. On this exploration of Canada’s youngest province you’ll make stops at many of Newfoundland’s significant historical and natural sites, including the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Gros Morne National Park and L’Anse aux Meadows, a Viking archaeological site.

Day 1 - ARRIVAL IN HALIFAX
Arrive at Halifax International Airport and transfer independently to your centrally-located hotel. This evening we become better acquainted with our traveling companions at an evening welcome reception. Overnight in Halifax. Day 2 - HALIFAX TO PORT-AUX-BASQUES
Today we travel via Truro and Antigonish, crossing over the Canso Causeway to beautiful Cape Breton Island. In North Sydney we board a Marine Atlantic ferry taking us to Port-aux-Basques, your port of entry into Newfoundland. Overnight in Port-aux-Basques. Full breakfast and lunch included. Day 3 - PORT-AUX-BASQUES TO PORT CHOIX
Drive through the Cordroy Valley, framed by the Long Range Mountains, the Anguille Mountains, and the Atlantic Ocean, and stop for a brief tour in Corner Brook, the largest city on the west coast. Our journey continues through Gros Morne National Park and into the fishing community of Port au Choix, where we’ll visit the Port au Choix National Historic Site before checking into the hotel for the evening. Overnight in Port au Choix. Full breakfast, lunch, and dinner included. Day 4 - PORT AUX CHOIX TO L'ANSE AU CLAIR
Today we board a ferry at St. Barbe and cross the Strait of Belle Island on our way to Labrador. We visit Red Bay National Historic Site, location of a Basque whaling station in the 16th century. Overnight in L’Anse au Clair. Full breakfast and dinner included. Day 5 - L'ANSE AU CLAIR TO ST. ANTHONY
We return to Newfoundland and travel to L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site, an archaeological site marking the earliest known European settlement in North America. Now a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site, additional exhibits also showcase Viking artifacts and give a fascinating glimpse into the Viking lifestyle. This evening, enjoy a memorable Viking feast! Overnight in St. Anthony. Full breakfast and dinner included. Day 6 - ST.ANTHONY TO COW HEAD
This morning (weather-permitting) we take a whalewatching boat tour hoping for sightings of these giant marine mammals. During certain summer months titanic-sized icebergs can also be spotted. Don’t forget your camera! We then continue on to Cow Head, our destination for the night. Overnight in Cow Head. Full breakfast and dinner included. Day 7 - GROS MORNE/ COW HEAD
Today we’ll visit Gros Morne National Park, offering a rich variety of scenery, wildlife, and recreational activities. We’ll stop at the Broom Point fishing exhibit and Lobster Cove Lighthouse, and partake in a scenic boat tour where we’ll learn about the geology of the Tablelands, see the whales and bald eagles that frequent the deep waters of the fjord, and engage in the history of the small villages nestled along the shores. Overnight in Cow Head. Full breakfast and dinner included. Day 8 - COW HEAD TO GANDER
Travel through central Newfoundland towards Gander and visit the Mary March Regional Museum in Grand Falls-Windsor where displays focus on aboriginals and the creation of the modern paper industry. Arrive in Gander where we’ll check into the hotel for a relaxing evening. Overnight in Gander. Full breakfast, lunch box and dinner included. Day 9 - GANDER / TWLLINGATE
A scenic drive along the coast of Notre Dame Bay leads us to the beautiful town of Twillingate. At the tip of the island we visit the Long Point Lighthouse and local co-op. Back in Gander, we visit the North Atlantic Aviation Museum. Overnight in Gander. Full breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Day 10 - GANDER TO CLARENVILLE
Our route today takes us along the Trans Canada Highway and through Terra Nova National Park, the most easterly of Canada’s national parks. Keep an eye out for a variety of wildlife! We visit Cape Bonavista Lighthouse Provincial Park and the charming town of Trinity. Overnight at Clarenville. Full breakfast and lunch included. Day 11 - CLARENVILLE TO ST. JOHN'S
This morning enjoy some free time to explore on your own before our afternoon drive to Bay Bulls for a boat tour to the Witness Bay Bird Sanctuary (weather permitting). Later we visit Cape Spear National Historic Site, the most eastern point in North America, before going to St John's for a farewell dinner. Overnight in St. John's. Day 12- St. JOHN'S
This morning, we enjoy a city tour of this old seaport. We will see the Victorian architecture of the downtown area, the busy modern waterfront, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Confederation Building, and the panoramic view from Signal Hill. The remainder of the day is free to explore on your own. Day 13 - END OF TOUR
