ITINERARY
Day 1 - ARRIVAL IN WHITEHORSE

Arrive at Whitehorse airport and be welcomed to Canada's Yukon by your tour director. You will be transferred to the hotel to check in and meet your fellow travellers. The rest of the day and evening is yours to explore the town or enjoy a well deserved rest. Overnight in Whitehorse.

Day 2 - WHITEHORSE TO HAINES JUNCTON

This morning you will be treated to some of the highlights of Yukon's capital, such as a visit to the restored sternwheeler MS Klondike next to the Yukon River. We depart Whitehorse westbound on the scenic Alaska Highway on route to Haines Junction situated adjacent to Kluane National Park. Kluane National Park is Canada's largest national park featuring a wide variety of wildlife, unspoiled forests and the world’s largest glacial expanse outside of the North and South Poles. Overnight in Haines Junction.

Day 3 - HAINES JUNCTION TO TOK

Today we drive along the scenic shores of the massive Lake Kluane, stopping for a visit at the Sheep Mountain Visitor Center. The rocky slopes of the mountain are home to the rare snow-white dall sheep that can be seen grazing on the sparse native vegetation. Overnight in Tok.

Day 4 - TOK TO VALDEZ

Our journey today will take us along the Glenn Highway, bordered by countless rivers, lakes and glaciers before we arrive at the majestic Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. Departing along the Richardson Highway, we cross the coastal mountain range via the Thompson Pass. With the spectacular thundering falls right next to the road, we continue on to the small seaport of Valdez on the Pacific coast. This coastal town set between the ocean and the mountains is world famous as the terminus for the Trans Alaska Pipeline and the expansive dockyards berthing oil tankers from around the globe. Overnight in Valdez.

Day 5 - VALDEZ TO ANCHORAGE

Today we board a ferry to travel the length of Prince William Sound, a highlight of the scenic beauty of Alaska. Travelling near the Pacific coast our route takes us close to several glacial shelves including the spectacular Columbia Glacier. Otters, puffins, sea lions and whales, can be seen from the decks of the ferry providing a wealth of photograph opportunities. Disembarking the ferry, we continue past the Portage Glacier and along the Turnagain Arm to arrive in Anchorage. Overnight Anchorage.

Day 6 - ANCHORAGE

Today is free to explore Alaska's biggest city independently. The aviation museum offers visitors the opportunity to admire several legendary aircraft that helped settle the northern frontier. In downtown Anchorage you will find the Art Museum and the Museum of History. Many large commercial retail outlets provide a variety of shopping options and unique microbreweries offer various kinds of delicious, locally-brewed beer. Among the dining establishments is "Gwennies", home of the ‘gold digger’ style steak. Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 7 - ANCHORAGE TO DENALI NATIONAL PARK

Today we leave the comparably temperate climate of Pacific coast region and travel northbound along the George Parks Highway towards Denali National Park. The breathtaking landscape offers constantly changing panoramic views with distant glaciers dotting the horizon and beaver dams adorning roadside rivers and streams. Overnight near Denali National Park.

Day 8 - DENALI NATIONAL PARK

This morning we embark on a Denali wildlife tour. A park-owned shuttle bus takes us deep into one of the most dynamic landscapes in North America. Weather permitting, we will view the majestic Mount McKinley. At 6193 meters high, it is the highest mountain in the U.S.A. An impressive variety of wildlife may be seen including wolves, dall sheep, moose, caribou and grizzly bears. Overnight near Denali National Park.

Day 9 - DENALI NATIONAL PARK TO FAIRBANKS

Departing Denali National Park along George Parks Highway, today we stop in Nenana for a visit to the Alaska Railroad Museum before arriving in Fairbanks early in the afternoon. The remainder of the day is yours to explore the town, located 320 km south of the Arctic Circle. You are free to visit the Alaska Dog Mushing Museum, or treat yourself to the local delicacy of fresh king crab in one of the numerous restaurants. Overnight in Fairbanks.

Day 10 - FAIRBANKS TO TOK

We depart Fairbanks in the morning and resume our journey as we pass innumerable lakes and rivers in this pristine land. Along our route to Tok, we nearly intersect the Trans-Alaska Pipeline again as it crosses the Tanana River, adjacent to the highway. In Delta Junction we meet the Alaska Highway and visit the local visitor center. Overnight in Tok.

Day 11 - TOK TO DAWSON CITY

Today we set out from Tok along the Top of the World Highway. North of the timberline, we will pass through the environmentally distinctive landscape of tundra and permafrost. We soon cross the U.S./ Canada border at Little Gold Creek, the highest elevation between the two nations. On the road to the ferry terminal at the Yukon River, towns with peculiar names such as Chicken and Action Wade Camp populate the route. We board the ferry and cross the river to Dawson City. Overnight in Dawson City.

Day 12 - DAWSON CITY

Today we explore the most famous of gold rush towns where many still prospect for their own big strike. Located at the junction of the Klondike and Yukon rivers, the town offers a myriad of attractions such as Bonanza Creek, the Jack London cabin and the Midnight Dome. We pay a visit to the remarkable Gold Diggers Museum, exhibiting the tools and artifacts of the 19th century prospectors. Many of the buildings in the area are original structures while others have been restored to their previous grandeur. In the evening we visit "Diamond Tooth Gerties Casino and Cancan" where the famous line dancers provide a classic frontier show. For those looking for additional authentic period entertainment, the Palace Grand Theatre offers turnof- the-century music to the delight of audiences. Overnight in Dawson City.

Day 13 - DAWSON CITY TO WHITEHORSE

Today we follow the Yukon River along a section of its 3200 km length on our return to Whitehorse via the Klondike Highway. Along the way we stop to visit the infamous Five Finger Rapids - mighty rapids that posed a threat to many sternwheelers navigating the Yukon in the past. Old post offices, roadhouses and small villages are living hallmarks of the gold rush era of 100 years ago. Overnight in Whitehorse.

Day 14 - END OF TOUR

A final day in Yukon's capital allows for a day of independently exploring all the sights, sounds and attractions Whitehorse has to offer. Highlights of the area include the longest wooden fish ladder in the world or the intriguing Transportation Museum. You may independently charter a sightseeing boat trip through Miles Canyon at the headwaters of the Yukon Rivers. Many shoppes and retailers line the streets of the town, offering you a chance for some last minute shopping. You will conclude your northern adventure with your transfer to Whitehorse airport.
