Day 1 Vancouver Arrival
Arrive in Vancouver and spend time exploring this scenic city on your own. Overnight in Vancouver.

Day 2 Vancouver to Kamloops
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from the coastal city of Vancouver to Kamloops, in the heart of British Columbia’s interior. On today’s journey you will see dramatic changes in scenery, from the lush green fields of the Fraser River valley, through forests and winding river canyons surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade mountains, to the desert-like environment of the interior. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer travels along the shores of Kamloops Lake and into Kamloops. Overnight in Kamloops. B, L.

Day 3 Kamloops to Emerald Lake Lodge
Your journey continues eastwards to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Once again you will see a spectacular array of scenery as you travel across ranchlands, along rocky lakeshores, over high mountain passes and through the remarkable tunnels that form part of the rich rail history of the Canadian Rockies. Today’s highlights include Craigellachie, where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven, the climb over Rogers Pass, the Kicking Horse Canyon, the Spiral Tunnels and, of course, the glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Your rail journey ends in the resort town of Banff this evening where you will acquire your rental vehicle.

Your self-drive journey along Highway 1 to Emerald Lake Lodge takes you through spectacular scenery. Emerald Lake Lodge is situated on the shores of Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park. We recommend allowing approximately one and a half hours for today’s drive. No vehicles are allowed on the grounds and guests are requested to park their vehicles in the overnight parking lot. A shuttle bus will transport you to the Main Lodge. Overnight at Emerald Lake Lodge. B, L.
Day 4 Emerald Lake Lodge

Since the Canadian Government has permitted no further development, this area remains one of Canada’s most outstanding year-round accessible wilderness setting.
Built of hand-hewn timber and featuring massive stone fireplaces, Emerald Lake Lodge includes a formal dining room and quiet reading and sitting rooms. An oak bar salvaged from an 1890s Yukon saloon is the focal point of the lounge. From the upper and lower large verandas, the visions nature presents are stunning. Overnight at Emerald Lake Lodge.

Day 5 Emerald Lake Lodge
Today is yours to explore the sights of Yoho National Park, including Takakkaw Falls and beautiful Lake O’Hara, to hike in the surrounding mountians or to simply relax at the lodge. Overnight at Emerald Lake Lodge.

Day 6 Emerald Lake to Calgary
Your journey along Highway 1 to Calgary takes you through spectacular scenery. Drop off your rental car at the Calgary International Airport, where your vacation ends. We recommend allowing approximately two and a half hours for today’s drive.
